Alexndra Fuller wrote "That Awful Book" almost 10 years ago and this is the sequel. The aforementioned book, which may not be mentioned in her family, was "Don't Lets go to the Dogs Tonight" and it focused on her upbringing in what the colonials still call Rhodesia, present day Zimbabwe.
I must have read that book about a year ago and it was amazing. The sequel, "Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness" doesn't disappoint. I had started reading "The Hunger Games", to see what all of the fuss was about, when I discovered this book. Fuller's latest offering is a page turner and I finished it in two days. If it is anything to go by, I am still trying to slog through "The Hunger Games".
"Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness" centers around Nicola Fuller of Central Africa and details the trials and tribulations of growing up in both Europe and Africa. This is a story of love and madness and survival and war.
